I painted this David Austin Anne Boleyn Rose in a Worcester Sparrowbeak jug, inspired by pieces from the V&A porcelain collection.
Using acrylic on linen canvas (8 x 8 inches / 20 x 20 cm), I worked to capture the delicate beauty of the rose alongside the elegant form of the Worcester jug. I drew the jug on location at the Victoria and Albert Museum's porcelain gallery, bringing together my love of historical ceramics with fresh flowers.
The Anne Boleyn Rose is one of David Austin's heritage roses, with its soft pink petals and classic form. I love combining British heritage roses with traditional ceramics, celebrating both David Austin's rose breeding and Worcester's ceramic tradition.
The painting is unframed.
